Philip Battle

Philip has worked in the arts since leaving school in 1975. He pursued a career as a graphic designer at Knowsley Council before studying graphics, display and exhibition design at Hugh Baird College, Bootle.

In the early 80’s Philip was heavily involved in the Liverpool music scene, with his own band (The Sensible Shoes) and his design work on local music and arts fanzine: BREAKOUT!

Philip has worked in all aspects of art and design, he is a qualified (City & Guilds) sign-writer & heraldic designer; he has taught illustration at Liverpool University; set and prop design at Liverpool Theatre School. He has also worked as a supervisor in adult education where he taught graphic design, life drawing, landscape painting and ran residential art development courses in the English Peak District.

Philip’s great love of street art mirrors his own passion to make the arts more accessible & without barriers to everybody, regardless of class, colour or creed!
